Towns / Villages midlands

Part of what the mallorquins call Es Pla - the central plain - is located in this area. And you'll often hear said that you've not really experienced the diversity of Mallorca, if you have yet to walk Es Pla. In winter, the mountains protect the central plains from the rugged wind from the Tramuntana mountains, leaving the plains to absorb most of the island's total rain and snow. In summer, the same mountains are a cool haven for locals and tourists alike, seeking to escape the heat. This is where fruits and vegetables are grown, and also where some of Mallorca's leather and ceramics craftsmen as well as manufacturers of traditional clothing and the much sought-after perls have their homes.
