Cala d'Or

'The golden bay' of Cala d'Or absolutely lives up to its name. Here, you'll find five of Mallorca's finest bays, squeezed between high rocks, and at the bottom of each bay, small beaches with fine sand and crystal clear water.

The place is comfortable and feels a bit exclusive - without being posh or expensive. The town consists of low, white houses, surrounded by lushness and shade. In the centre, you'll be greeted by numerous pleasant pedestrian streets with shops and outdoor seating. In the evening, people come here to enjoy a nice meal, to shop and just hang out. The marina is another popular spot for evening excursions. Here, you'll find a number of good restaurants where you can taste both Spanish and international cuisine in a cozy atmosphere.

Cala d'Or's surroundings are charming with beautiful old stone houses and pleasant courtyards. For excursions on your own, the many small, nice towns and idyllic villages present ideal and near-by destinations.

Overall evaluation:
Cala d'Or is one of the most popular destinations in Mallorca, and the number of visitors has grown significantly in recent years, meaning that the beaches during high season may feel a bit cramped. On the other hand, the hotels have nice pool areas, and many choose to stay there, creating room for others at the near-by beaches.

Child friendly:
During the high season,  there's not always much space to play, but as the water level is rather low, and the beaches offer good opportunities to rent different water sports equipment, the conditions are generally good for children.
